http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/4929029 and the stretches east and west of there.

It's a fairly notorious section for bad driving and close overtakes of cyclists (who must ride on the carriageway there - walkers also have no footway for most of it) despite the double white centre lines, known as the "Bawsey bumps" because of the series of blind dips through Bawsey itself, but has no major junctions and no cyclist-involved collisions 2005-2014. I hope we get some details of how this happened.

http://www.lynnnews.co.uk/news/tran...llision-with-van-on-b1145-at-bawsey-1-7624931 describes the deceased as "a man in his 30s" and the van as a Ford Transit. http://www.klfm967.co.uk/news/klfm-news/2120219/man-dies-in-collision-in-bawsey/ additionally reports that they were travelling in the same direction.

The description in later reports as Gayton Road (rather than B1145) and the extent of the road closure suggests it was on the western half of http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/232474689 rather than the stretch I linked earlier.

RIP.

The earlier EDP story has been replaced by calls from the MP and others for the speed limit to be reduced through the village with the dips. I don't understand why it was still 50mph through a village anyway, especially with such a deceptive road.

Latest shocking news from a Norwich Cycling Campaign volunteer on facebook, reposted with permission:

Tony Clarke > ‎Stop Killing Cyclists

Odd state of affairs. A cyclist,Darren Orpwood, was killed by Sam MacDonald near Kings Lynn in October 2016. MacDonald has been imprisioned for six years. But the Norfolk Coroner has decided that an inquest was not required, My experience of attending inquests is that information is made available which was not disclosed at the criminal court. A report on local media stated that Norfolk County Council had cut back the undergrowth at the site of the collision. At another inquest I attended, the representative of NCC was so poorly briefed that the Coroner had to write to the Council to obtain information. I wonder if NCC had any influence in the Coroner's decision on Darren. But Normal for Norfolk!
