What did the cyclist do different to what scooter rider would do? He over took and didn't under take. It was a legit manoeuvre.

He made a hasty split-second decision to overtake an extremely long lorry after it slowed slightly.

I wouldn't have advised any vehicle to overtake at that point.

Nah, I've watched it again, the brake lights came on when the cyclist was halfway down the wagon, there was no road obstruction and the driver looked directly towards the cyclist when the cyclist was level with the cab.

A legit pass, as the cyclist easily made past the wagon safely, the wagon sped up unsafely and on seeing the cyclist whilst the wagon was undertaking the cyclist he appeared to look at the cyclist.

The wagon driver was acting in an irresponsible way and tbh appears to be playing games with the cyclist (the brake lights).

I would say the truck slowed to go through the narrowing in the road.. This is what you are taught to do in HGV lessons and will possibly fail your test if you don't.
The acceleration away was slow, true.... Its a feckin massive truck, of course it will be.. Very possible the cyclist was out of view of the truck and the driver was being cautious making it even slower.

Cyclist should have stayed behind. End of story.
If you'd have overtaken the cyclist in such a way on such a narrow road and forced the cyclist into the door zone you'd have failed your test.

I have a class 1 (or whatever they're called these days) too.

I think the cyclist was looking for a confrontation.

MGIF by cyclist but the lorry driver should of let him overtake rather than wait till he was level with cab then accelerate , am sure highway code says this .

Cyclist is a nobber. The beep was just a warning that the truck was passing, good job as it was a double length one. Cyclist had no reason to pass. Idiot, and he didn't have enough speed

Aye I think the cyclist is in the wrong here....the driver passed and gave plenty space....no need to go chasing after it and putting himself in an unsafe position

Guys....before getting all macho and aggressive...as per forum etiquette, answer this.

I don't see how a scooter is relevant. A cyclist doesn't have the power or the acceleration of a scooter. The cyclist attempted to overtake a long vehicle on a road full of pinch points when he didn't have the power or the ability to do so.

But he did! He made the pass perfectly safely....until the wagon started to speed up and undertake.

To me the lorry slows for a pinch point and then speeds up. By this time the cyclist has put himself /herself in jeopardy. Why play about with a vehicle of that size?

If you replace the truck with me and the cyclist with a car, if a driver raced me into a pinch point like that my bike would be on the ground in front of him and I'd be "having a word"

IMO, the cyclist made it way past the cab and could of easily pulled back to the near side with no issues, if the wagon hadn't sped up. The wagon driver appears to have looked directly at the cyclist before speeding up.

How come you say a scooter isn't a valid analogy then use a car as one?
