not being one for street brawling, I wouldn't know. I have heard that keeping the bike between you and the assailant is a good tactic

You think the cyclist "asked" for it. If you randomly decide what actions deserve punches to the head then I've decided I can punch you in the head. Deal?
don't put words in my mouth please  .... I said that i wouldn't shout in someone's face, you're a f'ing pr'ck, because there are likely to be consequences. Would you shout in the driver's face as the cyclist did?

Richard Ballatyne recommended this, but was really talking about dogs, rather than punks, chavs or other miscreants

Mind you the controversial second part with the bicycle pump would probably still work!

I have no sympathy for the bloke on the bike , he was aggressive one and almost killed himself to get to the next set of lights to confront the car driver.

Another nobber on a bike winding everyone up.

He only became aggressive after the driver aggressively encroached on him in the ASL and then even more aggressively accelerated quickly really closely to the guy.

I swear some people are unable to connect the car object with the driver, it's like a car is an uncontrollable force of nature rather than an instrument of the will of the driver.

The driver did not aggressively enter the ASL, to me it looked like he entered slowly. Don't get me wrong he shouldn't have entered there but it was not aggressive.

Perspective...I didn't see an agressive stance by the driver in the first instance. He seemed to creep forward to better communicate with the cyclist who buttonholed him. I swear that some people judge the person by the car they are sat in. He must have thought ...Audi driver automatically = little man syndrome....The bloke who got out and decked him certainly wasn't a little dude !

I wonder if the aggresssive cyclist was a CM devotee who was 'reclaiming the streets'

The car drove beyond the stop line while the light was red.
I would consider that aggressive behaviour, especially if there are people already in it.

The chase down afterwards was foolish, but the driver crossed the white stop line while the light was red and while there were vunerable road users in the ASZ.

Getting out of your car and "lamping" someone is not acceptable.

Seems to me a symptom of the failure of the police and other authorities to enforce the message that the ASZ's are for bikes.
Was reading about this in the Evening Standard - it's made the news and the vid has been viewed 250,000 times according to the article.

So that's 250,000 extra people who think cyclists are all self-gratification artists.
To go with the other ten million.

It is very aggressive to drive a car very close to a cyclist in an ASL, it is even more aggressive to accelerate past someone that close them, the driver had aggressive intentions from the minute the cyclist entered the ASL.

I have had a driver in a powerful car behind me when I was in primary in an ASL accelerate violently from behind me as soon as the lights changed the wheels span the engine over revved it was farking terrifying you have no idea if you are going to be hit or not.
