That's because of all those drunks you have in scotland, the assaulted is usually so pissed he can't remember :P

Not true - my understanding is that a crime is "against the crown" hence it's not for the victim to push the issue.
There was a bizarre case where someone with some fetish got another person to nail his bollocks to a table (or something equally bizarre). It was still assault despite the victim making no complaint and quite literally "asking for it"

Whether the police can be arsed following up where the victim doesn't come forward is another matter.

I think it depends more on how far it goes. A Police caution or your record is different to taking it to the CPS.

The cyclist seems to be looking for confrontation. Ok the drivers a complete knob & when he moves forward that's wrong but move a little to the side and let him past. There's ways of dealing with certain situations and arguing with a car when on a bike isn't a good idea!

Also bombing it down the road to catch up and screaming at the driver through the window, I'm sorry but forget what happened before (which wasn't life or death) I'd do the same thing!

And watch your language!
