when I started cycling in the 1980s, cycling was definitely a minority sport.
I have seen it grow steadily until the last 5 years or so, when it boomed into a mainstream sport for all.
Over this time, and especially recently, I've seen an ever increasing amount of litter (energy gel packets etc.) along country roads and on trails. The issue of litter (thrown by cyclists) has always been there, but was always very small scale indeed, but with the ever increasing number of cyclists, the amount of rubbish is getting silly in many areas.
Surely this needs to be addressed before cyclists get a bad name for this type of behaviour.
