I have one, not had it long and it's in full commuter mode (mudguards, rack etc) but i really like it, comfy, quiet and smooth

That's not unusual when you add disc brakes, more robust wheels and heavier tyres into the mix. If you want sub 10kgs, you'll be looking at an alu / carbon fork road bike or full plastic

I have no idea on weight, wasn't really a priority for me as it's my commuter / bad weather trainer and fitted with mudguards, rack, panniers and set of lights with a big battery pack it is never going to be a light weight option

I would say 12kg is a bit harsh though!
