That's not unusual when you add disc brakes, more robust wheels and heavier tyres into the mix. If you want sub 10kgs, you'll be looking at an alu / carbon fork road bike or full plastic
I have no idea on weight, wasn't really a priority for me as it's my commuter / bad weather trainer and fitted with mudguards, rack, panniers and set of lights with a big battery pack it is never going to be a light weight option
