Bit of a lighthearted thread, but as per the title. What things do you keep and cherish, which are worthless to anybody else, but mean the world to you?
I`ll start with a few:
An old toolbox that my dad made before I was born out of scraps of wood and a piece of scaffolding pole as a carrying handle, he had it for years and years, and then when he hired a skip to clear the space for the conservatory to be built, the poor old thing was abandoned like an old sock! I couldn`t see it done, I rescued it and it`s in my garage now with pride of place
When I was little, I always used to love helping my nan decorate the Christmas tree, I loved it, and naturally she had loads of lovely old decorations, one in particular was an old pipe, which was red and gold, and always had pride of place on the tree, and christmas wasn`t christmas until one of us had blown it and got a note out of it! I`ve still got it now, comes out every year, held together with cellotape and lost it`s tune, but it`s 70 years old and part of our family.
I have, and totally love, my grandad`s granddaughter clock. I`ve had it passed on to me and it`s just lovely, such a soothing tick to it and full westminster chime. He`s been gone 12 years now but every time it chimes he`s here with me, can`t get much more sentimental than that
The last immediate one is my Trek road bike. I`ve had it for years, and years, it`s worth nothing, but..... I did my first ever, and every club ride on it, did LEJOG on it, discovered TT`s on it, etc etc etc. It and I have so much history, and it could tell so many stories that I would never part with it, it means too much.
So peoples, what do you have?
