When I were a lad the shop would give us specially printed cards that said something like happy Christmas from your delivery boy/girl inside them.

We used to have those, the weekday boys used to deliver them, but it seems that the customers preferred to leave a tip out at the weekend. I was lucky, I did the weekends.

I think it's too late this year as he only does Saturday's.
I'll tell him to plan a charm offensive next Christmas if he's still on the job.

I think of DM readers as fearful, timid small-'c' conservatives. They're on the lower rungs of the aspirational ladder and in awe of those further up. They are however terrified of those below them and will stamp on fingers if necessary. Of course their reading matter reinforces their world-view.

What do you reckon?
I don't reckon anything. I asked if they had handed money out. Not wherever they should do. She didn't give the impression she was interested in compensation. Although I expect she will be getting a few unsolicited calls from solicitors who may help change her mind!!
