I'm doing the dartmoor classic in June, and looking for somewhere to stay near the event. I've found a few places, but there's a breakfast problem..... as in the time that most places serve it. Not early enough!!
What do you guys do about food 'pre event' when you do a sportive and have to stay over?? My parents do live in devon and i could stay with them the night before but it would be an even more hellishly early start and a fair drive before starting, which i'm keen to avoid.
Can you just ask for an early breakfast??

When I booked our accommodation for the event I asked about an early breakfast. The owner said that if it was too early she would make up something for us and leave ready for the morning, so explain exactly what you need and see what's on offer.

It's always worth asking. Do it at the booking stage. How much earlier than normal are you talking about? If a B and B owner would be up anyway, they might oblige - offer a little extra cash for their trouble? Some will do anything for you, some won't.

Alternatively, stock up the night before on pastries, box of cereal, milk, instant porridge mix, and breakfast in your room - check when booking if there is a kettle in the room. Porridge is probably a better pre-ride breakfast than a full English anyway. Take a bowl, or ask to borrow one when you get there.

Oooo! Porridge etc there?? How cool. So i could have breakfast there???
That makes life easier.......
By earlier than normal - well normal B&Bs serve breakfast about 8.30-9am onwards, i'd need it about 7am ish. On a sunday morning. Can't see the B&B being that obliging really.

Thanks maggot - i'm not looking forward to the hills - i know what dartmoor's like, but not ever cycled it....
