Found what could be a date code on the brake arms , a circle with 08 or 80 in it . It has a head badge and slightly flared seat tubes and by "compact" do you mean sloping top tube, this has sloping top tube.

If the brake arms are marked ‘08’, and they are original, then 2008 would be the earliest date for it. The frame configuration and head badge would seem to confirm your 2009 date.

Indeed. I bought it in 1976 from a colleague at work who didn't want it any more. I gave him £25 for it.
The frame, fork, stem, bars, calipers, rear and front mech and rack are original.

Always loved the colour :-) Weinmann 630 wheels?

They are, but the large flange hub on the front went some years back.
The Brooks saddle was once owned by a famous CC member Vernon.
