Dawes Galaxy Ultra Sizing

Hi, I'm looking at getting a Dawes Galaxy Ultra I'm wondering what size rider would be suited to a 53cm frame? Any help in this matter very much appreciated

I would have thought you should be tackling sizing by asking what size suits your height/inside leg, rather than the other way around.

Thanks for that. Im being more bike specific because the bike thats for sale is 53cm frame. If it helps you to answer im 5ft 10.25 in bare feet with a trouser length 29"

I'm your hight and inside leg. I would go for the 48 as that would be closest to a 55/56cm normal frame.

A 53cm frame will be a little on the small side for your height but should be fine. Some like a frame that is a little smaller than recommended, some prefer a bit larger. I notice the ultra has a sloping top tube so you could comfortably go larger, although that doesn't affect you in this case. What you want to avoid is have too much seat post sticking out. The only way to find out if it fits you is to try it out, although I appreciate that might not be possible if you are buying off a web seller.

That the 53cm has a 56.8cm effective top tube. This would be to big for me (5ft 10" - 29.5" inside leg).

Thank you for your answer helps me now understand how straight and sloping toptube bikes are measured. I will keep looking for a smaller frame.
