Quite a "roady" looking bike what with the short chainstays and minimal fork rake. I've always thought of Dawes as builders of docile long-wheelbase tourers not sportier stuff. Having said that, I'm sure someone on here recently posted up a Dawes MTB they'd picked up cheap for a project, so they must have been trying to grab some market share beyond their core customer base.

It's funny how Reynolds 501 is looked down on as a frame material. My Raleigh Pioneer 501 frame is lovely and light compared with my Apollo "gas pipe special" builders skip bike, and it feels quite lively, although the 73 degree geometry could also be a factor not just the steel spec.

Must admit not ridden it far yet as still in the long Q of awaiting work

Dawes have made quite a few machine's with sportier geometry over the years and the couple i have had in the past have always ridden well
