Dawes Sardar or Surly LHT

Just thought I'd get a second opinion maybe. I've got a Dawes Sardar and a Surly LHT and as I can't ride both at the same time I think I'd better sell one. Trouble is I can't decide which one.

What would be an ideal asking price for the Surly, it's had a few subtle upgrades (Marathon XR tyres, Tektro CR520 brakes, leather bar tape) and has probably done around 600 miles since new, so condition is perfect.

Or sell the Sardar, my only gripe with the Sardar is that it's a 1" headset and I can't get anything bigger than a 1.75" tyre on the front due to lack of space between the fork.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

cheers

Interestingly I flipped a coin, tails sell the Surly, heads sell the Sardar and it was tails 3 out of 3. I've never really warmed to the Surly hence the low mileage and I have the option of disc brakes on the Sardar if i wish, another point for the Sardar I guess.

Is £550 a reasonable price for the Surly if I advertise it on a couple of forums. I think they're £1050 new.

Absolutely keep the Sardar. Got mine and love it -friend got the Surly and he sold it. Anyway, LHTs are common as muck.

Another way to think about it: if you sell the Sardar, but then realize you made a mistake, it will be difficult to get one again. Sell the LHT and regret it? Just buy another one. The only way I wouldn't keep the Sardar is if you *absolutely* love the LHT and are far more comfortable on it.

Yeah, keep the Sardar.

elduderino, I notice that the saddle on the Surly is very nose-up in comparison to the Sardar. I wonder if this contributes to your "never really warming" to it? I'm not familiar with either bike so can't advise one way or the other.

It seems almost universal for the Sardar. I agree every second bike on crazyguy is a Surly and should I ever want one again I could always just get the frame and transfer the parts over.

Shirokazan, for love nor money I couldn't get the saddle any lower, so I bought another seatpost and all is well now

I've got someone interested in the Surly so we'll see.....

Is it me, or are both the rack and the seat on the Surly tilted upwards?

EDIT: just read Shirokazan's post - so not just me then.
