I had a mate who got a 3rd in a Physics degree. He was actually a pretty clever chap, but was more interested in the social side of things in his last year of uni. A 3rd is almost better than a 2.2 Lots of people have 2.2s, but not so many get 3rds. I believe that below a 3rd, you can get awarded a straight degree without the honours bit, but I've never heard of anyone getting one, or may be they don't do them any more. Getting a 3rd or 2.2 would put you at a handicap when trying to find your first job, but after that it hardly matters. Experience and personal attributes matter more. My mate ended up as a project manager.
