both of those areas (there is a 2nd smaller one which is downhill only with jumps etc) are the north side which may/may not be open yet. And by open I mean the need to scale/climb over +30 fallen trees simply to get to the areas...There is a skills section with three different short runs of a hill, although none of it is hugely technical.
I have it on good authority (a mates done it) that they are very good. However, do they still run after next week? (clocks changing).
oh and there is also the Delamere Loop should you get bored enough with the forest. nothing technical, reasonably well signed and around 22 miles in total distance. Goes out along the Whitegate Way, then out past Oulton Park, then Tarporley and through Primrose Wood before heading back towards Delamere Forest.
the best info on it seems to be from here http://www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/downloads/Delamere_Loop_Book_Revised_Layout-2-2.pdf
I have a gpx file of the route if you are interested.
Hiya "SatNavSaysStraightOn" I see you have a GPX of the Delemere Loop. I did it last year with my 9 year old on a sunny summers day and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be doing it again soon and a GPX would be great if I could have a copy. I'll try and dig it out for you. Not sure if I still have it, but there would be a copy on my strava account, so I can always download it from there.Hiya "SatNavSaysStraightOn" I see you have a GPX of the Delemere Loop. You are a star ! Thanks for the reply. Last time I started at Whitegate station. And I was following the Delamere loop leaflet. Most of the navigation was easy enough except the route through the forest was a bit vague. I know it doesn't really matter if we went off route in parts but it's always nice to complete the "official route". It's a great ride with kids if they are not too confident on the roads yet as the roads it does take you on are generally quiet and 50-60 percent is pathways. Nice cafe in Kelsall if you don't mind a small detour it means you don't have to carry lunch !I'll try and dig it out for you. Not sure if I still have it, but there would be a copy on my strava account, so I can always download it from there.
Which way around would you be doing it and where would you be parking? I can always create it from scratch for you because I know it off by heart being a local and it coming within 10m of my front door.
