Images that could be templates for a far saner and safer world than that we currently occupy.

Imagine no 4x4s, very few motor vehicles, fit people in a healthy environment.

Got to be near the ideal?

Lovely! Thanks for posting that BS

We went to the Netherlands last summer camping and it really is still a lot like that in many ways.
No helmets
Young people on bikes (over the age of 12 and younger than 30)
Lots and lots of bikes.
Did not see builders on bikes but certainly business men in suits and girls dressed for the office.

One sunday we cycled to the beach - car park was almost empty but a sea of bikes along the front. It was such a lovely atmosphere.
I think they have given up on wood as a material for footware though.

We camped

That was lovely, only thing is the video is jerky & keeps stopping. I always get the updates for Real Player when they come out, so don't know what's the matter.

I've seen the CTC one before. What about that BBC commentary hey?

Mind you, not much later than that I would have been going on club runs where the riders looked very similar - not a bit of Lycra in sight. I've got quite a few old pics from my Dad's where they look like that - one of them has a young Johnny Helms in it.

Thought I spotted a couple of blokes towards the end doing the same thing as well.

Anyone spot anyone in the entire film that looked even remotely overweight?

I just love some of the trailers in the NL one, and can't believe that some men wore ties while out on a leisure ride in the British one!

Oh to have as little motor traffic as there was in the 1950s.

Without wishing to sound misty eyed and unrealistic, and that I want to take "choice" away from our hyper-me-now-culture of instant gratification, can we please have that here?

I agree, but to be fair the Dutch also drink coffee and smoke like bas*ards.
