this morning I had a bit of a 30mph bounce down the road after the back wheel went away on a bit of gravel down a hill, next car along was a paramedic who did some patchwork and recommended a trip to a&e, got that sorted with nice nurse lisa digging gravel from out of the elbow, everything else is just bumps and scrapes. My bike, a Boardman Team 2008 has somehow now got a dent in the top tube, roughly equidistant from seat and handlebars, looking for advice about this, should I get it looked it before setting off out again or will it be ok.

I would suggest getting an LBS mechanic to check it out and follow his advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get it checked but don't worry too much about the dent if it is smooth, bicycle tubes have all kinds of dents pressed into them to accommodate wheels etc. It's only if there's a sharp edge or the dent is near the end of a tube that you should worry.
