Detroit Soup

Anyone watch this documentary on Detroit Soup yesterday?

Well worth a watch if you get the time (and are interested in community projects) - Detroit is an area of high deprivation so people put forward community projects and they invite the local community to attend and vote on their favourite – everyone pays $5 and gets soup and a cake, the winning pitch gets all the money to go towards their project. They only raise around $1000 on the night but it's amazing what can be done with such a small amount.

I didn't see the programme, but what a brilliant idea .
Yeah, I thought so - there is a follow up programme (still to be shown) where the founder takes the idea to Kathmandu. I think (and she does too) it is pretty much adaptable anywhere. Nice to watch something positive for a change!
