The heading to this thread suggests to me that it is all a clever marketing ploy by the opticians - but perhaps not all that clever as they were hoping passers by would go into the shop to ask this question rather than post it on an internet forum. They would then quickly switch the tags on the glasses and point out that the person evidently did not "see right" and that they should have their eyes tested immediately to prevent any further embarrassing and potentially financially disadvantageous accidents thereafter. On testing it would become apparent that the person needed spectacles to correct their vision and due to a very peculiar nature of the eye defect, only these spectacles at £499 would correct the defect.
