Anybody ever stay at a YMCA? Back in early ‘60s I stayed a week in the Rheindahlen YMCA visiting my school friend who was in the Army. I had recently lived a few miles away at an RAF Wildenrath as a child and teenager so I knew of it from way back.
It was certainly everything the song was about, clean room, plenty of hot water showers and great food too. Yes for me it was fun to stay at the YMCA. How about you?

When I was working in London I stayed in the YWCA in Pimlico ( Victoria stn) for about 4 weeks whilst I was houseshare hunting. It was a nice place to stay.

I stayed at Leicester YMCA in 1976, which was a pretty grim doss house for the homeless, but in 2006 & 2007 I stayed at Bath & Cheltenham YMCAs, which were ok. Cheltenham was the most confusing labyrinthine building I have ever been in, full of multi-level corridors, staircases & passageways.

My brother stayed in quite a few in the late 1970's when walking the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and Northumberland. I remember him saying they were basic, but clean and cheap. I also remember he had a YHA badge, so he must've been a member, probably entitling him to a cheap room for the night.

Did you know @Accy cyclist , the Village People also featured an English dandy in their line up. He wrote their 1982 hit, "Someone's Parked Badly in the Disabled Bay."

Didn't he also write the B side - No One Likes a Dodgy Neighbour?
