Yes its been one of the highest mileage years for me for a long time, the sunny summer days, the building of not 1 but 2 new bikes, the discovery of Strava have all made it a memorable bike year, but there are times when I wish I hadn't discovered Strava, its hard not to think about it while out riding
Stretching "summer", starting last year, I have had a brilliant time.
Nasty little ex-partner in prison.
Uninteresting career dumped.
House bought.
.New boyfriend, which led to:
New bike.
Stand-up comedy.
Being well on the way to a new job which I love. As Hover fly said, "There are two kinds of people, proffesional;steam launch skippers, and those who wish they were steam launch skippers."
back cycling for fun after 20 years off.
busy busy bbq season for us at work (30 to 40 thousand sausages a week have been sold)
over a thousand pound of honey gathered by the bee's.
Brilliant summer, got my first road bike, took the second 2 weeks of the TDF off work, racked up the mileage in the morning and watched the race in the afternoon. Since then the miles have sped past, had a ride changing bike fit and the hills are getting conquered albeit slowly.
unemployed for a large part... then got a job (2 months ago)
went to Paris for the TdF finale
got back on the bike and will try and continue
did lots of wildlife watching
got some geckos
watched Peregrines fledge
Moved house ...stress !
Knackered my back leading to constant tingling in hands and loss of strength
diagnosed with arthritis in right hand
Not enough time or able to ride much with all of the above .
Roll on next year when it will all be good !
N+1 balances it out a bit.
Absolutely! And it's all thanks to some numpty who said back in the spring (when the weather was, as per, crap) that we were just going to have to get used to it...crap summers were going to be how it is, for the next ten years. No sooner announced than the sun came out! So, whoever it was, thanks for taking one for the team.
