Yes, a cracking summer indeed. In fact, it's generally been a year of firsts for me:

First ride across a border (into Wales)
First trips to nearby places I hadn't cycled to before: Ellesmere, Wem, Shawbury, Market Drayton, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Melverley, Knockin, Welshpool and over the Long Mountain (not to be confused with the Long Mynd which I ride regularly).
First ride over the Hardknott and Wrynose passes.
First metric and imperial centuries.

My mileage could have been better still if I hadn't lost most of April to illness (that included a few firsts I would rather not have experienced ) and if we'd had slightly better weather in March and May, but you can't have everything.

Non-cycling has been good. On beach quite a lot, and out and about. London for a weekend as well. Cycling has been no more than commuting. Only done 3 rides over 30 miles since last October - each about 50miles. Hardly been on the bike for leisure, other than commuting 5 days a week. A dodgy 'snip' has caused this. Awaiting some 'repairs' soon, then if it works, may face another operation, so I expect at least another month off the bike shortly, followed by a 'gingerly' felt return to the saddle. Next Year....

We tried to make the most of it but unfortunately work, finances and a bereavement made it difficult.
Have to say it was better than if it had rained though.
