Deleted from my memory banks. Rebooted and reliving life. Being very careful not to relive what I lost through my children. They and I are individuals with our own free spirits and rights as intelligent people. I make sure they feel (and are) empowered females and that they are aware they are deeply loved.

I used to 'camouflage' stuff behind my beard, but this year I have kept my growth in check so it's easy to see when I'm smiling.

I had a bucolic childhood. It was like it had been penned by Enid Blyton. I used to wander, carefree through flowery meads, rest a while under the shady canopy of an old oak tree and eat my picnic from my whisker basket.
At the end of the day I would return home, careful not to scratch myself on the blooming, scented roses around the door of our pretty, but basic thatched former milking parlour of a cottage. Of course once inside I'd guzzle lashings of ginger beer.
My mum would clap eyes on me and say "here he is, our very own Walter Mitty"

Yes, all the normal ups and downs, that are expected as a kid, bashed knees, mud, getting told off occasionally, freedom to roam, friends, family. I maybe wish I'd been more confident, but I am who I am....

I'm glad I was a child when I was, as I think there are more pressures on them now, and I would hate to have seen how I would have dealt with phones and Facebook etc as a teen.

On average, yes. Some upset and disquiet around the time my parents split, but other wise fine.

I was bullied a little, but pretty soon was bigger than the bullies and it stopped. I wasn't fiddled with. I always had food and clean clothes, and I roamed within a 50-60 mike radius at will in my bike without so much as a puncture repair kit in my pocket.

@raleighnut summer of '76 was awesome! Raleigh Chopper, and not a cloud in the sky for the whole summer holiday, stand pipes in the street, and a bath once a week whether I needed it at not!
