Dealing with an estate and I found a Horse Passport. I knew the deceased kept horses but I never realised that horse passports were a thing. I don't actually know if/where the animal is still alive but given it was born in 1977, it'd be nearly 50 now so unlikely.

It's more of an ID - not a passport for international travel.

They never used to need a passport to appear in the freezer aisle at Tesco.

You can moan all you like about Tesco burgers, but their meatballs are the dog's bollocks

(and oldie, but having been fed the lead i, shame to waste it)

Yes. Our horse has one and having been around horses for 40+ years I’ve seen many more. In fact it is a legal requirement for them to have a passport with them whilst being transported.

I don't think they ever travelled, the old owner was a big supporter of retired horses, ponies, donkeys.... Anything with long legs and a long face really

The modern horse passports also state (amongst many things) whether the horse can be used in the foodchain upon death or not. That's the owners choice, mine were definitely not. But depending on vaccinations and worming, it might only be the animal foodchain they can be used in, not the human.
