Who intentionally uses a different saddle for a fixed to on a geared roadbike?
on yesterday's audax my arse was getting a bit sore after about 50-60 miles, using a brooks, despite the fact that an identical brooks on my geared roadbike has been awesomely comfy for more than that distance.
I think it might be partly due to having fairly old crap nike tights, the pad of which has probably worn thin a bit, but maybe also due to:
*spending more time in the saddle on a fixed, as on geared I would stand up to coast, whereas standing up while pedalling quite fast is not so much difficult, but less natural -
* spinning more puts more pressure on the sit bones?
it's not like the saddle's wrong in that it puts too much pressure on the soft tissue, on the contrary, it just feels sore right on the sit bones, like it's too hard.
i'm going to put the fizik arione on and see how i get on with that as it's a slightly softer saddle than the brooks and that softness may be more suited to/what's needed on the fixed. But just wondered if anyone else has found this?
