If it's been very wet and the bike has been covered in a lot of muck and grime, then it'll get cleaned once a week. Given that I live in a top-floor flat, this means brushing the muck off on the stair landing and then wiping down with a wet cloth, or - recently - standing the bike in the bath, spraying with a bike cleaner, scrubbing it a bit and then stretching the shower hose out of the shower cabinet to rinse it off.

However, I do try and give the chain a regular wipedown and lube to keep it from getting too grimy and gunged up - especially after a rainy ride.

Just how the heck do you get the drivetrain that spotless ?! Blimey. You need to see a specialist for that OCD

Get a big brush, some hot water with some car shampoo or whatever and clean brush it. The change to normal water and do the same.
I do clean my chain alot, wipe down and oil. Thats it.
Dont bother with toothbrush anymore, used to but its a waste of time.
I do wash my bike at least 2 times a week, and spend more time riding it then cleaning it:biggrin:

Mr Sheen - great stuff. Takes maybe 5 minutes to wipe over. The best bike doesn't often go out in the rain these days - that's why the drive chain is clean - I've got two other bikes for that.
