There's a rumour rim brakes might make a come back to the peloton following UCI review of the Lugano Charter.

I’m undecided on the whole thing so I’ve compromised…..

Not altogether silly, as any old badly adjusted brakes are adequate for the back, so assuming we accept that discs are "better", then the front is where it is going to matter. There is a reason motorbikes have 2 huge discs up front and a single tiny excuse for a disc on the rear

thats because of the weight of the bike though, and when you brake it shifts forward and the bike tends to tip forward even if the forks were locked out, so the rear lifts up abit and theres no real braking power gained from it. so its almost necessarily smaller

they use two front discs because it spreads the load evenly, you arent getting twisting force through the forks, and is better to handle the braking forces involved which generate lots of heat.

you dont tend to suffer those problems on a bicycle as much or at least not to the same extent that having two front discs would be of benefit.
