After multiple spokes pinging I am changing the Maddux wheels on my synapse.

I am thinking of some handbuilt ones from Spa cycles.

One question is are all disc hubs 135 wide?

how do I measure mine to ensure I order correct ones?

I don't race just do long days out for fun and Audax rides so reliability is my main concern so thinking maybe go 36 spokes rear and 32 front .

I did think of rebuilding existing wheels with higher quality dt Swiss spokes but the wheels have already done several thousand miles so probably a false economy in the long run.

No, they're not all 135mm wide. The easiest way to measure them is to measure the distance between the drop-outs on your frame. You probably won't come up with a measurement corresponding to the 135, 142 or 150mm and other widths available but it may give you a massive clue. Probably is 135 though.

You also need to know if the drop-outs are quick release or thru-axle fittings and if thru-axle are they 9mm, 12mm, 15mm or even in some cases 20mm

Thanks for the replies.

Just removed wheel to replace spoke The measurement across the inside of the drop outs is 137 but Iam sure they sprang out a little when I released the wheel (qr) so looks as if 135 is it.

A quick google brings up loads of people complaining of Maddux wheels pinging spokes.
