Blimey Colin you don't half ask some difficult questions, no idea mate, saw this rag tag bunch with bikes outside Oakham station yesterday as I was passing so asked if they fancied a ride, and you expect me to know names!!!
Oh ok then. Left to right, young Chris, Steve [Steve52] Dave [DaveR], Ian [Cycleruk], Simon [Batesy16] and Helen.
Went out on another ride this afternoon instead of the club ride to take advantage of the warm sun, could be the last this year with these temps.

I was expecting warm sun today too, but I only saw it for about 10 minutes! The rest of my ride was either under leaden skies, or in extremely thick mist every time I got above 300 metres elevation. I was so worried by the speed of cars overtaking me and how close they were getting that I took to the footpath to get away from them. (Not something I would normally do, but climbing at 6 mph when vehicles are overtaking in the murk at 40+ is scary!)

Wanted to say thanks to everyone for making my first ride out with club members such an enjoyable one. Great day, good company and glorious weather all make for an excellent day. and perhaps now people will see how nice it is to cycle around Rutland (unknown gem that it is) thanks guys for making me feel welcome. Looking forward to the next one already.
Managed to get out again today, and what a weekend for weather, don't think I had it this good in the summer.

A big well done to Chris, the main question is did he enjoy it? I felt great on Sunday morning, but by Sunday night I had a bit of a sore throat, woke up this morning with a full blown cold, my first this year.

Good stuff Chris, hope you keep it up, you could be pushing Steve one day. Hi Tony, yes the cafe was the one we went to the last time you came however I have a gem of a ride lined up for the first or second Sunday in December but need to know what everyone thinks as to the date. I'm flexible because I'm lucky to have a partner who is as bonkers as I am when it comes to cycling.
I'll leave it up to you guys [and hopefully girls, come on where are you?] to decide on the date, we may all have to be flexible if the weather plays up.

Unfortunately the trains don't work for me on a Sunday so I'm not able to make this one, also the second Sunday in December is the club Xmas lunch, forty odd miles of cycling with a full Xmas dinner in the middle.

I can make December 4th, the first Sunday in December. As long as the ride's not too fast. I can do distance but not speed.

Don't worry about speed, I just stick my better half [on fixed] at the front, ask her to kindly sit upright and shelter behind her

. Seriously, we don't worry too much about speed, it's the social aspect and the countryside that forum rides are about and I am really spoilt for choice round here.

hi there, will definitely be up for the next ride, whether on a saturday or sunday, both should be fine. Will keep my eye out on here to see what dates everyone thinks.

We're into Xmas Policing, I don't have a free weekend off in December (except Xmas itself). So yet again I'll be missing out...Will watch out for rides in the New Year though.
