Thanks for organizing a great ride Steve, got in about a quarter of an hour ago, clocked 70 miles for the day, and a superb day its been, lovely countryside, quiet lanes, I saw more cars getting out of Nuneaton than we saw all day, a nice tea stop and good company.

My thanks to everyone who came on the ride today, perfect riding weather, no punctures or mechanicals and very good company. Hope you got home ok Ian, that was an epic ride you did today and not on a road bike. Here are some pics from the day:

Cracking days riding with some super views  got home in conditions i left it, very foggy! it was without doubt a epic ride and i am looking foward to the next one  , got home with the bike computer reading 109.6 miles and 7.51.39 (yes just under 8 hours of riding time!).
Thanks for a cracking day  . Right, i am now off to sort the squeaking noise that i had to listen to for the last part of my ride which was driving me mad   , so till next time take care all.

I have to say we were a bit worried about you getting back but I guess it was mostly light, anyway well done. Also I should mention Chris who as our youngest member with a lot less experience than the rest of us did a great ride and hopefully will come out with us again.
Some stats I recorded, 50 miles, overall ave13.47mph, 5 Red Kites. We crossed one A road and were passed by a total of 26 cars [very sad I know]. For most of the ride we were cycling 2,3 and even 4 abreast. The majority of drivers that passed us in either direction we exchanged waves with, fantastic.
I am very happy to organise another but it's not me it's the people that come on the ride that make it what it is so if anyone wants another in this great cycling area let me know, but I would like to run it on a Sunday to give others a chance.
Thanks again, it was good to show off [IMO England's best kept secret] some of Rutland. No I don't work for Rutland Tourist Board, but maybe I should!

Rats!!! Only just noticed this, a day too late. This isn't a section of the forum I normally visit, but I'll check it out more frequently from now on. Sounds like a superb ride. I haven't been round that area since going to watch the Melton Cicle Classic. Worthwhile carrying binocs for the birdwatching - there's a Red Kite hotspot at a landfill site about a mile north of Stainby, quite close to North Witham.
