I always send wire beaded tyres folded, the 3 loops way as described earlier. I pack any tyresthat go out at work though I don't work in packing, since no-one else knows how. Comes from days of cycle camping, never went anywhere without a cheap emergency tyre stuffed in a pannier, and most panniers aren't 700C
