If the pump works and all the pipes and filters are clear then my guess it is whatever it telling the pump to work that is at fault.
Pump will run if - programme is telling it to run AND the water level indicator is telling it there is water to pump.
Assume the programme bit is OK as that is a tricky bit to deal with so look at the water level indicator.
I have had the same problem on a washing machine and that is controlled by a tube that comes out the sump and water pushes up it to throw a switch. That got gunked up with washing powder. Same sort of thing on a dishwasher.
