I'm hoping that I'll be in a position to retire at some point in the next year or two, in my mid 50's. I fully expect to have a reduced income, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for leading a life of leisure.

I've been sorting out my bike collection over the last year or so, with a view to not buying any more bikes in the foreseeable future. Having said that, I've been a firm believer in the n+1 rule for many years, so it's a habit I'll find hard to kick! While I still have some spare cash, what should I add?

My current stable consists of:

A "best" road bike - Kinesis Granfondo
A winter road bike - Kona Roadhouse
(These 2 are interchangeable to some extent, depending on mood and what's got mudguards fitted!)
A shopping / utility bike - Pashley Sovereign
A "just get on and go for a ride in my normal clothes" bike - Giant Escape City 2
A mountain bike - Forme hardtail 29er
Half a cheap tandem for the odd occasion that MrsR wants to come out with me

Do I *need* to buy anything else?

Shopper - doesn't appeal.
Elephant bike - yes, have looked at those, but I think it'd do the same job as the Sovereign.
Fixed - done that, got the t-shirt. It's too hilly round here for me to enjoy it.
Old - maybe...

Do you ride them all, or do several of them just sit gathering dust? Perhaps you'd be better off giving (or cheaply selling) a few of them to those who can't afford to pay much for a bike. Then you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you've helped someone else do more cycling.

I've already done that! http://nottinghambikeworks.org.uk/ have had several frames and large boxes of parts from me in the last year. Everything that's left gets used regularly.
