No. I can't get interested in the opinions of journalists most of whom are no more qualified to have opinions than I am.

I haven't bought a newpaper in a very long time. Journalists have become incredibly lazy of late and that has put me off. Also the fact that you can get the news online for free!

I find myself in complete agreement with NickM.

However I do cadge my father's copy of the Times everyday to read the sports reporting.

The Guardian, which is still a repository of straightforward reporting and good writing.

Sundays is a problem. The Sindy is lightweight, the Observer and the Sunday Times are fascist rags, and the Sunday Telegraph doesn't employ reporters. I occasionally get the Sunday Mirror, which goes in to the back of a cycling jersey, and is pretty pithily written, with good footy coverage and great leader columns.

Would you care to expand on this statement Sir!?

read it and judge for yourself. They've been laying off experienced reporters since 2005. The paper is now a shadow of its former formidable self.

Only time I buy them is for the recruitment section (which is getting smaller and smaller - general lack of jobs as well as most being advertised online)

BF used to buy one (at least) every day in his old job so i would read it in the evening, when he left there initally I missed having one to read but after a few weeks it did not bother me at all and now read everything on line (or download the PDF of the metro in the morning and read that on screen during the day)

The Observer is a fascist rag? Really? I gave it up recently after - what? 30 years? - but not on account of its politics, which didn't jar with me, but because it's got thin and lazy - too much 'journalism by press release' for my liking.

The Guardian, 6 days a week for me.

Never buy newspapers. I sometimes pick up a Metro at the station, but that doesn't really count as a newspaper.
I'll occasionallyy get the Marylebone train that comes through Solihull in the evening, there's usually a few copies of the London Evening Standard lying around. Always good to have a laugh at the house prices on property night.
