I shall be wearing jeans and a t-shirt, possibly an amusing Christmas one if I can find one.

I used to wear some 'smarter' clothes for Xmas lunch as a youngster, then I hit teenagedom and faded torn jeans became the uniform of the festive season. I'm in th ewhatever is comfy camp, but for some weard and unfathomable reason this year I have an urge to buy that black kilt get up I've been hankering after for several years...just need a swanky do to show it off...the kilt i mean.

I am dressed better than normal, which is not saying much.

This morning I have noticed supermarket staff dressed up, you'd think that having been given free antlers and elf costumes to wear, they'd be grateful and could look happy about it............I have noticed the managers don't wear antlers or elf costumes, they get to wear Christmas crew neck jumpers, which designate their superiority, like cringeworthy uncles, except they are not embarrassed about it, just smug, being, as they are, antler and elf free................ Asda is the worst, some poor sod has to sing "Jingle bells" over the tanny prior to each special offer announcement.

My wife's family tradition was to dress up to the 9's (what does that mean?)
Her first Christmas with me at my parents was a bit awkward with her in her late 80's Laura Ashley finery and us in our tidy, but nowt special.... I'd told her not to do it, she didn't listen.

I have of course dragged her down in the intervening 25 years.
