Currently...Mostly, fairly straightforward, good bunch of colleagues, pretty well paid, local to home, little accountability other than to deliver high quality in budget... and people think I'm good at it

Not working in March due to holiday followed by shoulder surgery. Hope to sign a new contract by end of month

I recently got promoted to office manager for the next six months or so. While its challenging I feel that I am having a positive impact on the office and staff. The previous incumbent (who will likely come back) sat in his office and delegated everything. I like to be a bit more involved and provide staff with support, where appropriate. So for the first time in a long time I am getting job satisfaction and feel contented at work.

For my job, there is nowhere else in NI paying as highly for the relative workload, some months I nearly double my take home in overtime. I also get remunerated for picking up two colleagues.

Its not always silky smooth and im over qualified, its been an alright 8 years

I have a great job, very very part time and I can work in my home office most of the time (in my slippers and PJs, with a cup of tea and a guitar across my lap). When I go into the office, I do need to get dressed and be a bit more focused. The pay is absolute pants, actually, it's even worse than pants but it will improve. Dragging fledgling businesses when the boss wants to take over the world, one guitarist at a time, takes time. It will be worth it.

As much as I enjoy my job I alway come across folks that have jobs that incredibly interesting and more a lifestyle than a job. It makes you wonder how lucky or brave or foresighted that these people are. Some of these are
  • Marine biologist
  • game warden
  • lighthouse keeper on an isolated Island
  • Cocktail bar owner in Tahiti
  • Journalist at TdF
  • War Correspondent
  • Surgeon with Médecins Sans Frontières in war torn country
  • Food columist in France
  • Bike Mechanic in California
Then you ask yourself what exactly that you enjoy about your own work?

I wouldn't say I love my job but I enjoy most of it; working for a solvent successful manufacturer and free to run my sales area as I wish with no interference. About ten weeks a year of overseas travel with no limit on expenses other than "treat it like your own money".

Absolutely love my job, as a full time foster carer I work at home, I have a mischievous four year old who keeps me occupied full time and more often than not the house is filled with the sound of laughter. Financially , the money is crap £125 per week but seeing this little guy happy and content is reward enough.

I have to say I would have no interest in any of those!!

Mine is OK. Some right idiots to deal with, salary is OK, but I get a decent pension, and fortunately, they are OK on sick pay (thank god) as I'm facing 6 months off work.

Lucky to enjoy my job, there is always a challenge, a laugh and positive feedback from people, which makes it worthwhile. But if I got the opportunity to quit I think I would as I'd like to do other stuff that work gets in the way of!
