I used to love it until I was medically retired.
Nursing in an acute setting meant you never knew what sort of challenge you'd face each shift.
I still miss it now

How long since you were medically retired? When I speak to nurses who are coming up to retirement they say how glad they are that they are almost finished because it's much tougher now with so many staff shortages. I enjoy working much more now I only work on a sessional contract. It was a big decision to make as obviously I am not guaranteed work however, given the staff shortages that everyone is experiencing, I have not had any problems. It means I am not working every bank holiday and most weekends and I am able to be off when my daughter has appointments.

Mine's going to be a medical retirement. Chronic piles... ;)

Gonna set myself up as a part time decorator when im done. I know someone that's been doing this the last few months and they're coining it, having to turn work away. I'll set up for myself, but work in co-operation with them, picking up some of their excess work, subbing for them when I'm not so busy, and vice versa.

I trained in 1985 and I left in 2008. I did some agency work when I had the kids or moved, but always went back to regular work.
I'd love to go back to it but can't due to the Arthritis in my spine and knees and my Fibromyalgia.

I don't particularly like my job, but it pays all the cycling related bills, and the hours are such that I get enough time to do good mileage. So I'll put up with it.

Most days I really enjoy my job, I'm a community pharmacist and own two shops in East Lothian, i feel like I'm part of the community and hopefully provide a good service.

Like most people I would rather be out on my bike than be at work but I'm still too young to retire and it pays the bills whilst being enjoyable on most of the time!

I do 1 agency shifts a month to maintain my minimum number of shifts to remain on their books, I much prefer to do the sessional work though because I maintain my contract with the local trust here. At one point the team I work in had 7 full time agency workers and 4 sessional workers, we were in danger of outnumbering the permanent staff.
