Hi to all.
Most rides are generally pleasant and rewarding , but ever now and again I will get a day when I'm glad to get back home and put the bike away.
Tonight was one of those days for sure.
Everybody just seemed to be in my face tonight whilst out on the bike. I set off around 7 tonight hoping the weather would be cooler and that the roads would be quieter, but as soon as I got the bike out the front door three neighbours insisted on wanting a long drawn out conversation about "nothing". After managing to get away after 25 minutes the roads magically became congested as the traffic lights at the bottom of the road stopped working. After navigating my way through them I had a bunch of kids running along side me, like some deranged fans of the Tour De France chasing after the leaders shouting " god knows what". After escaping them I seemed to ride into a pocket of blind people as they walked out in front of me without looking first. Never mind i though. Two more minutes and I'll be out into the countryside were I can enjoy the peace and quiet..

It's life, s**t happens, the occasional crap ride helps you appreciate the good ones more. I think most of us have the occasional crap ride, I know I do.

It didn't end there though. Once out in the sticks the roads seemed to be processed by crazy drivers and incident's. Close passes , an oncoming car nearly being run off the road as a young boy racer came tearing past me spewing his 20000 watt music out of his clapped out Corsa. A few miles later a raft of emergency vehicles came past with the sirens going ten to the dozen. The final straw was around 5 miles from home when white van man gave me some abuse for holding him up for a few moments down a country lane. As I pulled over to let him pass he shouted some abuse at me through his passenger window , and feeling pretty peed off I gave it him back. To his mistake he got out but soon changed his mind when he say my ugly mug and hands like 10" plates of meat. The way I was feeling I would of launched him into the middle of next week lol.
Once home I thought peace and quiet ,but its not to be. The next doors cats keep coming in pestering me for food whilst listening to the neighbour constantly screaming at his kids.A mogadon and a beer ,and back to work for a rest tomorrow thank god lol :-)

Late July/early August 2012. I went to Hyde Park Corner for the start of a FNRttC to Brighton. I felt pretty knackered just riding the four miles to the start. At Clapham Common, I felt like bottling but I was encouraged by the kind parishioners. At Norwood, I saw a small railway bridge and decided that there was no way that I could climb that Everest. An escort home was offered by Our Great and Glorious Leader, Simon Legg, but I declined it and turned North alone. A speeding artic (White Knight or something?) came within elbow distance a few minutes later. I was so disappointed by my performance that the prospect of death under its last eight wheels barely registered on my radar. I was scammed for £20 by a lady at Fulham Broadway as I made my last couple of miles home in the early hours.
Stuff happens.

Shortly thereafter, I ended August 2012 in Hammersmith Hospital having a spot of sudden cardiac re-plumbing. That particular night ride was a bit of a close shave. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I've had bad days, when I've eaten tarmac, but ignoring those.

I live down in Kent now, but my first club was on Merseyside. A few years ago, i entered their open 10 on the Rainford bi-pass course. On the day, I drove up on the morning(250 miles), only to find the event cancelled. The grass cutters had been out and they hadnt removed the cones. Managed a short warm up ride then drove back home.

I did visit a relative as well so not a complete waste of time, but was a dissappointment.

Yeah I get them occasionally and like you say it's normally a multitude of things all combined to make an unpleasant trip, I had a ride the other day where it was too hot, too windy, squeaky jockey wheel, agro drivers etc. all compounded into a bad ride.
Yesterday however it was warm, tail ish wind, bike whizzed along quietly, my mojo was back!

Absolutely have bad rides from time to time. Usually when a catalogue of things happen such as a close pass, peds walking out on you etc etc.
