I had a good ride yesterday, only spoiled by a van driver buzzing me about 2 inches away at 50 mph, all because he wasn't happy about me and my mate riding two abreast on a quiet road. Most of the rides I don't like tend to involve headwinds.

A month or so ago I decided to head out into the peaks and up onto the tops. From the outset it was a hard day on the bike - windy, cold, the bar end fell off and tape started unravelling, road surfaces rattled my teeth, etc.

I kept going, but it was a good couple of hours of not much fun at all. I was glad to get home :-)

It's a rare occurrence, but does happen occasionally!

I mainly ride when my OH is on weekend shifts. Sometimes I get a few weeks in a row and start to build up, sometimes there's a few weeks off and I don't get out. I've just had 3 weeks away from the saddle doing other nice things, and I know the cross country 30 miles I want to do will end up with the long grind from Wortley up to Penistone on the TPT. On tired legs it gets so frustrating with four miles on a slight incline dead straight. That's when I can get fed up.

Thankfully I don't so much road these days. Round here there's lots of road parking and lots of people in wankpanzers with a superiority complex.
