Regularly cycle with Mrs Fox, she prefers the flatter routes and has the stamina for distance at a comfortable speed. If I want an adrenaline fix I can always fire off on a solo black run somewhere although given the choice, I prefer riding in company.

Can I answer - BOTH!

I really enjoy touring with my wife, but it is always planned down to the stops, about 35 miles a day and we know where we will be staying

When I tour it is always more eclectic, I often take long detours, don't mind getting lost exploring the area, and rarely book accommodation, preferring to simply phone a local tourist information when I have an idea where I want to stop. Somewhat faster, and often with no planned mileage. Just keep going until you find somewhere you fancy stopping. A day can vary from 30 miles if there is lot's of interest to 100 miles if it is excellent cycling country.

Neither is better or worse, just different

Mrs CP likes cycling as long as it constitutes 3 or 4 short rides, on the flat, in summer, with a lot of breaks. Doing a ride like tonight's 20 mile dark slog into the wind holds no appeal for her....?

Is she wierd?

I go with SWMBO so it does mean the ride is mot as long as i would like sometimes. However we dont go out for a race, just to enjoy the ride and keep fit. To be fair i may buy a roadie next year and do some more on my own, but i enjoy being out with her so doesn't bother me too much.

mine is trying to get hooked but keeps getting sick with flu and colds!

I really like to ride with her as it makes me relax and slow down, I find it impossible to do that otherwise.

Permanently single, but if the (entirely hypothetical) lady was a cyclist I'd be happy, if not still happy as long as she didn't mind me riding. If not, bye bye....

Off road with the wife for the past few years, but she fancies coming on one of our club rides, so i am just putting her a road bike together, she is really looking forward to ridding it, as long as she is not faster than me i'll be happy. lol

I've done a couple of charity rides with Mrs VC but it's my hobby, my time. I have a couple of regular ride buddies, but I have to admit I sometimes resent having to compromise for them. Cycling is when I can be selfish.

I enjoy riding in a group as well as riding alone and when in Manila can do both. However here in Vietnam I ride mostly alone although I've just found a club who do off road rides on most Sundays so will try them out in the near future. My wife has no interest in riding a bike and I don't mind, in fact sometimes it's good for each of us to do our own thing for a while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love to tour with the old dear but she's too slow to join me with my friends on our weekend rides. The difficulty for her is finding women (or indeed men) of a similar standard and mindset. She does run with others though.
