LOL! I could do with a shorter commute, although I'm feeling fairly recovered today (rest day for me). Just had a nice afternoon nap and the baby didn't even wake me up.

Me too!

I'm knackered, I rode in and out every day so far this week but relented and took the the motorbike home last night (and in today)..... i just needed a break (140 miles is enough for one week I rekon)

May sneak it home tonight too (but don't tell anyone)B)

How many miles is your commute one way BM?

22 miles on the flatter route, 21 if I take the shorter route via Anerley Hill.

My commute is 2.5 miles each way. Short enough to keep my interest in ....cough.....bad weather, but long enough to get a bit of a daily work out. I can easily stretch it to be any number of mileages from 5 to 20 for the round trip, all on reasonably quiet roads.

My commute is 13.5 miles each way, and i'm happy with that.

Busy week for me - 30 miles 4 days and 22 the other - 142, not bad, although the 30 miler days were effectively 4 rides a day....eek.

What I find rather impressive is peeps like you and Hackers riding 5 and more days in a row.

I'm a bit of a lightweight that way, as I do the weekend and tues/weds/thurs, so I get Mondays and Fridays to rest and recover.

You'll find a lot of folk do the five days, then the weekends for 'fun'...nuts..

Come on Mike - you do the 40 round trip. I used to do that many moons ago, with racing at weekends, but found I'd have to drive in at least once a week - I was younger though, but suffered the lactic acid build up worse than I do now.

That said, you are on your feet all day (or wheels).... but you are riding a virtual sofa , all be it a lightening quick one. ;)

Probably a day off tomorrow, but might do a little MTB'ing with my young son, then out for a good 40 on Sunday.....on pick up duties on Sat - wife is out with work.

Yes, as I am currently working from home.

The last office I was working in was 11.3Km (about 7 miles) away which was a really good distance, it didn't take to long and was long enough to get properly warmed up. Also the office was in a beautiful rural location...

I think the ideal commute is somewhere between 7 and 15 miles - trade off with exercise time, route, traffic etc. Not too much to massively eat into 'home time'.

Before I moved jobs a couple of years ago, I got back into commuting by riding the 30 miles to work, and back - total 60, once a week. That was a long day - out at 6.30am, back at 7pm....got some complaints from the missus. Anything approaching about an hours ride max is about the limit.

I'm pretty happy with my 40 minutes each way max - usually 35....

I think you're right on that distance, Fossy. Yeah, the skating lessons are just about as tiring as the ride. I love my job though, I wouldn't trade it easily.
