Does cycling make you drive more slowly?

I think I am careful and don't speed and have not for many years. I did when I was young but I think that is how it goes.

Since getting into cycling about 6 years ago I have changed. I think I more actively look out for bikes. I also don't risk there being a hidden bike behind a car. For example- if a transit van is indicating and turning left into a side road that I am coming out of, in the past I would have ensured he was turning and then pulled out. Now I think there may be a bike behind him and wait to be sure. I guess it comes from being on the bike behind something turning off and having some div pulling out in front of you.

does the transit have to be white? would you pull straight out if it's my dad's blue mercedes sprinter turning?
Cheers Ed

I tend to chill and take it steady. Too much traffic to go fast and it can be stressful. Driving is just to get us out and about. Not the drudgery of commuting. Just spent 90 minutes in traffic coming home from a day out in Liverpool. Only 40 miles away. No way would I want that every day.

I drive a lot slower than I used to but I do not think cycling has much to do with it,I have just got more careful and love the challenge of how many mile per gallon can I get as opposed to how many miles an hour I can do. Even on motorways I normally plod along at a steady 60 in the less stressful inside lane and let the loony's have their fun in the other two lanes.

When I was commuting into manchester, I got more 'road ragey' in my driving as I tended to have my heart rate leap more when people did daft things, which I'm pretty sure came from the cycling..
Changed now I'm cycling for 'fun' though. luckily .
