does make you wonder why

I mystified too. Firstly, how can you jump up and down on a bike without twisting your ankle? Secondly, this seems extremely odd behaviour: I have never seen anyone behave quite like this (Basil Faulty excepted), but despite that, your friend has decided how to treat all cyclists on the basis of this one loon. I'd also wonder exactly what your friend said to the cyclist. If he'd just been knocked off by a driver who then sped away, I can imagine there are plenty of ways of asking "are you ok?" that might be infuriating. Eg, he could have mentioned his belief that the way the cyclist was riding meant he was bound to hurt himself.

Though I will take a lesson: I will try never to jump up and down on my bicycle while swearing at helpful motorists.

No need to waste effort wondering why when the answer is right before our eyes:

The guys a chump.

The cyclist in question and just been hit hard on the front wheel by a motorist causing it to buckle well out of shape, jumping on it or gently putting pressure across it with both feet straightened it enough for him to carry on. He was on his way to see a very sick relative who required help urgently, and in his case the bike was quicker than public transport as he did not own a car.

When talking to me earlier he says the lunatic passed him on right hand side overtaking bus at at least 20 odd miles an hour without any care, and swears he will never stop to help a cyclist again. just occurs to me if people see this as general cyclists behaviour no wonder car drivers are biased towards cyclists.

Its just occurred to me that if this is the general brain computing power of a motorist I will never help another motorist again. No wonder cyclists are so biased against motorists.

The OP is the one who started the thread about being banned from a cafe for being a cyclist. I think this tale may not be a hundred per cent factually accurate. The jumping up and down on the bike bit is just implausible, was the cyclist also shaking his fist and shouting "Why, I oughta.."?
