Sprockets with 'odds' wear better on fixed/singlespeed as the 'evens' sprocket wears to the chain, so if you move on the chain by one link, it can sound rough - it's happened to me on a commuter fixed so I learnt to move the chain once every few months (assuming no 'deflations'). I'd not taken the wheel out for months, got a puncture, popped wheel back in, sounded terrible pedalling. Stopped and advanced the chain one link, sounded fine.
