Getting old but not past it

I have two bikes, a Specialized Allez and a Giant Defy 4. Both bikes are different sizes ( the Giant being a smaller frame than the Allez) and yet I feel comfortable on either of them with no discomfort at all, no matter the distance travelled. I find the Giant easier for braking as I can reach the levers easier but that's about all really. So, does size really matter? ( without going to extremes of course.)

As most manufacturers sizes and formula for sizing varies greatly I think the 'stated size' is just a good starting point for getting a good fit on any bike.
As long as you can stand over the frame without discomfort, or ideally contact, and reach all the controls comfortably when seated, you would say that the bike is the correct size.

Does your Giant have a shorter reach / stem than the Spesh? Try fitting a shorter stem to the Spesh, this will help with your reach and make braking easier.

Careful what you say, you are going to get ScotiaLass all confused again.
I was going to say im 5 foot 7" so i have a small frame but that could be even worse

For most overweight sportive-ers, no, since even on the right size bike most of them have appaling set ups and ridiculous positions.

The same can be said for racers of course, just they are a smaller fraction :P I saw a pic from a TT this weekend, guy on a Cervelo P5 sat bolt upright, lmao.

I've got 54, 56, 58 cm frames and a Brommie, they all pretty much fit. The geometries are all different though, but I suspect 56 would be my "ideal" size all things being equal.
If you're comfortable,then that's always a good sign.

My 52cm Merida Ride Lite 88 is slightly bigger than Maidmoo's 52 cm specialised allez when I tried it out I felt squashed but she has to reach for the bars on mine the stem on mine is longer think it all comes down to geometry
