We have a spot on the Fallowfield Loop that's prone to flood. It's under a bridge. The diversion is only half a mile, but as others have said, it's a risk going through as you don't know what the local wildlife have thrown in the temporary puddle. It was usually over shoe level, and you could just coast through it with feet up if you had the right speed. The down side is it would seep into my aero rims through the spoke holes and slosh about.

The one and only time I've ever seen the spring tide covering the Mersea Island causeway was when I was on the bike. Cars started going through when it was still several inches deep, but I waited until it was below kerb height and then went over on the pavement, because I did want rims full of salt water rotting them. I used to work with a guy who lived on Mersea, and his car was an absolute rust bucket from all the salt water.

I don't think I'd try that, but I have ridden through, and seen others do the same, where cars would not go - roughly up to hub depth as others have said. There are some risks but the speed is low and you'd land in water, so more drowning than breaking bones I'd think

There used to a road race circuit in North Nottinghamshire which went through a ford which you hit at 30mph plus which was rather short filling. However I guess as I still can picture this 25 years later maybe it was something special.

Nah, that's a "croc" No self-respecting croc would be seen in Melbourne's waterways, as it's a city of 5 million, and the water isn't exactly clean in parts.
