Almost at the end of my ride tonight - sitting second at the lights at the end of Ferry Road, turning right onto Junction Bridge. I'm sitting right against the white line in the middle of the road. Lights change, and I follow the car in front of me round the corner. Then from nowhere two very decrepit coffin-dodgers in a Rover come past me on my right as I'm half-way round the corner !
No idea WHERE they came from, as they weren't the car behind me as we sat waiting for the lights to change (I know that because the brown Fiat behind me was a inch off my back wheel and I'd given them a 'look' for edging up so close). I guess they'd driven down past all the other cars behind me on the wrong side of the road and just kept going. I just shook my head and threw an arm in the air in dismay, and I could see cars coming the other way staring at them and shaking their heads too.
Its at times like these that you do start to think that they should compulsorily re-test some of the elder generation once they reach a certain vintage. They're a danger to themselves and others - I wouldn't have trusted that pair to be in control of a supermarket trolley, let alone a motorised vehicle in rush-hour traffic.
