I am......err was expecting a delivery today, Eileen has the day off to sign for it, but

My parcel first went from Birmingham to Ecclesfield and was ready for delivery yesterday at 7.10pm.
This morning I checked tracking and my parcel is now in Gloucester:blink:
A few minutes ago I got a text from DPD saying my parcel is delayed and will now be delivered Wednesday....how can they get it so wrong, especially as it is all done using barcode systems now:angry:

whereas I got early given the weather so that I could go out for a much longer bike ride this morning before I needed to be home this afternoon and whilst eating breakfast remembered that I had arranged to be in today so that I could take delivery of something that was attempted to be delivered last Thursday. So am now waiting for my DPD delivery to arrive...

Probably tried chucking it into the back garden to avoid re delivering it....cheeky sod

I buy nearly everything by e-order and I find of all the carriers DPD are the best. Royal Fail are some way down the list but no longer the worse. Among retailers Amazon are getting worse at sorting at their distribution having sent two high value items to the wrong carrier within three months, they also try to blame the carrier but given one of the items supposedly sent by DPD arrived, on the right day via FED-EX I'm sure it is Amazon that are getting it wrong. The second item turned up 24 hours late via DPD, by which time I'd ordered, bought online and received delivery from a different seller so DPD got to take it back for a refund!

Given the vast amount of stuff in the systems of sellers and carriers I'm not that surprised things go wrong now and again, but I'll no longer buy high value items from Amazon.

I recently had a pair of wheels collected & delivered by Yodel  not a pleasant experience. Collected on Friday & no further tracking info, no delivery on Monday, chased up on Tuesday only to be told we'll get back to you in 2 days  I was really worried as the wheels had been under insured on valuation, but eventually wheels were delivered on the Thursday, only 3 days late:whistle:
Earlier this year City Link also excelled themselves, had a couple of car wheels due for delivery, but had to go out, so told my better half just to leave them in front of the garage if they came whilst I was out. Got home to find a box far too small for 2 car wheels, it actually had a guitar amp in. Got onto the sender who had the wheels returned to him, so re delivered the week after, but City Link would not take the box with the amp back as they had no paperwork, so someone somewhere is missing a guitar amp

I send stuff out through work all the time. All the clever systems, tracking etc is then finished off with a man in a van and that's where the system breaks down.

He (or she) forgets to take it, forgets it's n the back fo the van, get's lost, can;t find the house etc etc etc.

It's utterly frustrating and I'm sure its why Amazon are thinking about drone deliveries.

I would have thought amazon would set up their own delivery company.
They seem to like using external suppliers. For example, looking at their depot in Milton Keynes there are karge packaging companies alongside leading me to assume they don't even box it up some of the time.
