Yesterday morning as my legs siezed up on a slight incline I was passed by a fellow cyclist on his red and white Ribble. With a cheery hello this fine gentleman enquired after my health.
I replied "Actually, I'm b*ll*xed, I'm running late and feel like crap". An enforced stop at the railway crossing had built up far too much lactic acid in my legs. Two fast rides that week had taken it's toll too.
Anyway this gent then says "Get in the wheel, I'll tow you along"
I had to work hard but our speed jumped up from 13mph to 18mph. He even, as far as I can tell altered his ride to help me. I got into work with 5 minutes to spare!
So Linden in your MG Technogym retro jacket mounted on your Ribble steed, I say Thankyou and Chapeu Sir. You are a gentleman and a credit to our Brother(and sister)hood!

Nice One I often pass and say Good Morning/Evening as I pass but I stop short of offering them a wheel instead I slow a little in order for them to jump on then gradualy increase the speed if they can stay on my wheel they deserve it and if they are better than me and pass Ive got a wheel - have to say its so much better and the commute goes much faster. Last Thursday I dragged a fellow with panniers a mile before turning off he was so grateful and I like it when they acknowledge the fact.
